Triton Mobile™ app works across all popular platforms and devices

Staying connected to the Internet can be a challenge for any yacht, but when your software tools rely upon Internet access, frustration grows with each dropped connection. Until recently, it was almost impossible to use mobile apps on boats because of the spotty Internet access. Unless your vessel sat at the dock with a solid Wi-Fi signal, there was no guarantee your cloud based application was accessible when you needed it.

However, great strides have recently been made to make web or mobile apps less reliant on a constant Internet connection. These type of apps are known as “occasionally connected” apps. GCS continues to be on the cutting edge of technology with Triton Mobile™ – a truly independent browser-based platform designed to meet the daily operational needs of vessels. By switching to a browser-based platform and developing code that can cache and update data in bursts, programs that were previously tied to one type of device are now available on your phone, tablet, or laptop under any operating system -- and will continue to run even if your Internet connection is down.

Triton Mobile™ is a great example of how this works. Originally developed as a native application, Triton has evolved to meet the needs of captains and crew to allow full access on any device. Now you can fulfil your operational needs using your Android™ mobile, iPhone™, tablet or any other device. Triton Mobile™ is not tied to one operating system or device, so users can take full advantage of using the latest technology to access and build their data.

Enterprise software like Triton Mobile™ is not the same as downloading an app on your phone from the iPhone App store. App stores make you download software to your mobile device, use up storage memory, and are tied to one platform. If you switch from an iPhone™ to an Android™ device you then have to purchase new software, and may lose your data. With Triton Mobile™, your database belongs to you and lives on the ship’s server. This means you are not tied to continuous Internet access to use your tools.

Fortunately, you can get started on your setup of Triton Mobile™ by clicking on the link below. All active Triton users with up-to-date assurance contracts have free access to the Triton Mobile™ app upgrade.

In addition to the mobile app upgrade, current users will also be receiving a comprehensive worklist module by the end of the year, and the inventory adjustment module by January 2017.  This module will allow you to photograph, barcode, label, and count inventories faster than ever. Triton Mobile™ is a completely self-updating application.

If you haven’t renewed your Triton license, now is the perfect time to bring your program up to date and access Triton Mobile™ on your personal mobile devices. You can do so using the link above, or stop by the GCS display at FLIBS to see the latest improvements and have our technicians upgrade your program. Our corner booth #834 is in the American Pavilion. See you at the Show!

I have been working with Great Circle Systems since 2006 when they did the installation of all our networking and Internet communications equipment on our boat being built in Germany.

The equipment they recommended and installed was exactly as we required.  We have had extremely good results with all of their equipment and it has performed as they had advised.

I would highly recommend them to all fellow captains.

Triton has comprehensive essential features plus any additional features one can possibly need. It is still easy to use and has a swift support team to implement customer-specific wishes, such as individual day logs, etc.
