Yacht Electronic Technology Projects and the 80-20 Rule

Posted by Andy Levy on Oct 15, 2014 2:30:00 PM

You might not be familiar with the term "80-20 Rule," but I'm sure you've seen it in practice. Also called the "Pareto Principle," the "Law of the Vital Few," and the “Principle of Factor Sparsity," it states that in many instances, about 80% of the effects come from about 20% of the causes.

Hiring a Yacht Electro-Technical Officer (ETO)? Read This First!

Posted by Amy Levy on Jul 28, 2014 7:45:55 AM

And even the most diligent interviewer can miss a crucial piece of information (either positive or negative), causing you to hire someone who’s knowledge and skills make them a less than ideal fit for your vessel.

But really, interviewing for a Yacht Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) isn’t all bad if you include some basic, comprehensive questions. By asking the right questions and then carefully listening to the answers, you can increase your chances of hiring the right ETO for your vessel.

J.D. Crawford of Savant Systems

I have been working with Great Circle Systems since 2006 when they did the installation of all our networking and Internet communications equipment on our boat being built in Germany.

The equipment they recommended and installed was exactly as we required.  We have had extremely good results with all of their equipment and it has performed as they had advised.

I would highly recommend them to all fellow captains.
