New Year, New Builds - GCS projects in 2017

Posted by Steve Kahlich on Jan 27, 2017 10:52:42 AM

2017 has barely started, but GCS is already busy on numerous new builds in shipyards around the globe. From data entry and importation, internet optimization, to complete communication and IT systems, our experienced engineers and IT specialists are helping to build some of the most exciting and innovative yachts to be launched in the next 2 years.

GCS provides high performance onboard computer and communications, CCTV, Cellular, IP PBX, VSAT, and data management systems. Our information technology solutions are custom-tailored to each client’s individual needs. All GCS systems incorporate the three vital elements of a complete end-to-end solution:

  • Expert design, configuration, and installation of the system
  • Software that shapes the shared information into useful tools, integrating the onboard network with yacht communications, internet access, global email, and other systems
  • Ongoing service and support during the build and post commission

GCS has consulted, designed, installed, and supported state of the art IT systems on over 500 yachts for over 16 years. Here is a snapshot of our current new build projects. We are providing GCS systems to 6 vessels in 4 yards in the USA, Germany, and the Netherlands. If you are ready to bring the IT leaders in the superyacht industry on to your next project, contact us to request a proposal.

New Call-to-Action

United States

GCS is installing systems on 3 new builds in American yards, ranging from 50m to 64m, with projected launches in late 2017, early 2018 and end of 2018. All new builds are using Triton Issue Tracker and Triton 4 Administrator to build the vessel equipment, spares, inventory and PMS database. New builds benefit from Triton Issue Tracker because it allows management and crew to collate and keep track of data from an increasingly diverse set of sources including:

  • Electronic Files, Images, Drawings
  • Email
  • Telephone conversations
  • Physical hard copy references

For the 64 meter build we are providing the design, configuration, and installation of the IT network; which includes host, exchange and file servers, switches, routers, WAN and LAN, all desktops, laptops, tablets, hardware and software. GCS is installing GSM voice and data, IP PBX (with DECT capability) and dual VSAT systems. The IT network is a fully integrated network that allows all other IP based systems to achieve integration between various vendors and their systems, and removes the need for additional, redundant equipment.

For the 53 meter build, GCS is configuring and installing the fully integrated core network (servers, switches, routers, WAN and LAN, all computers, additional hardware and software), the CCTV system, dual VSAT, FB 250, and 3G/4G Data Units for fast, cost effective internet access.

And for the 50 meter project, GCS is installing the core IT network, IP PBX with DECT capability, GSM Voice, and of course 3G/4G Data Units for fast, cost effective internet access.

GCS has been installing data and IT solutions on Lürssen yachts for over a decade. This year we are on a 122 meter build with expected launch in 2019. Both vessels are receiving our full IT and communications solutions, including the fully integrated core network (server, switches, routers, WAN and LAN, all computers, and hardware and software), dual VSAT and GSM Voice, and Triton 4 to build the data management, PMS, and documentation for SMS compliance.

The Netherlands

In the Van Lent yard GCS is providing Triton 4 on a 71 meter project for data management and the planned maintenance system (PMS). We also wrote custom software to manage their documentation and drawings, and track issues and meetings to improve communication. This has kept the project on time and within the budget.

In the De Vries yard, Triton 4 is building the database for a 110 meter build that will launch in 2018. By using Triton 4 to track and monitor the build, the project team can easily import inventory and equipment data, photograph and bar code spares and link them to the PMS, set up the planned maintenance and engineer logs before launch, and track and build the documentation archive for commissioning and ongoing support.

In addition to these exciting new builds, GCS is engaged with many refits and ongoing projects, while continuing to provide responsive and knowledgeable IT support for existing clients. You can sign up here to stay informed of new technological advances as we implement them on new yachts!

I have been working with Great Circle Systems since 2006 when they did the installation of all our networking and Internet communications equipment on our boat being built in Germany.

The equipment they recommended and installed was exactly as we required.  We have had extremely good results with all of their equipment and it has performed as they had advised.

I would highly recommend them to all fellow captains.

CE_W_Michael_Hummel_of_MY_TVTriton Administrator has proven to be the perfect tool for us on M/Y TV, which is a 78 meter Luerssen yacht.

Triton has comprehensive essential features plus any additional features one can possibly need. It is still easy to use and has a swift support team to implement customer-specific wishes, such as individual day logs, etc.
